Delhi Darshan – I

Pritesh and me have visited Delhi quite a few times separately and these visits were completely work related. Last week we flew together and this visit to Delhi although short ( 28 hours to be precise) was really amazing. After finishing our work for which we actually travelled, we decided to explore the city.

Our Delhi Darshan began with our quick stop at Bikaner, a sweet & snack shop. We had pipping hot samosa’s with tapri chai (tea at roadside tea stall). OMG it was so delicious. We reached food heaven 🙂

Our next stop was at Qutb Minar. Being a week day, it was surprisingly over crowded. We got our entry ticket ( coasted us Rs 30/- each ) and got ready to explore this beautiful architecture which according to wikipedia is the tallest brick minaret in the world.

Following photographs will showcase this famous world landmark through my lens. Hope up enjoy them.

Within the Qutb courtyard, is this magnificent Iron pillar. We were just admiring this pillar when a security guard comes up to us and says that it weighs around 600 tons and is made up of un-rustable iron. He mentioned that its firmly believed that anyone who can join their hands while standing with their back to this pillar is granted with their wish. Instantly the scene from the movie Cheeni Kam popped in front of our eyes where Mr Amitabh Bachchan is trying to join his hands at this pillar to get his wish fulfilled. Don’t know about his wish getting fulfilled but we eagerly wanted to try it for fun but it was so over crowded that the  guard did not allow anyone to try it out. Grrr…

On our way back to the car, I came across these glass bottles which reminded me of my childhood.  We called them Goti Soda as bottle would have a marble in it. This marble had to be popped in order to enjoy the drink. It was super fun.

Anyway we really enjoyed this short trip to Qutb Minar and hope to come and visit it again sometime soon.
